To ask for time in Ukrainian, we use the phrase Котра година? — What time is it? To tell the time in Ukrainian, you need two different kinds of numerals for hours and minutes.
Firstly we talk about година — an hour. We use a special type of numbers for this purpose, порядкові числівники — ordinal numbers. Learn more about ordinal numbers in Ukrainian in our article here.
Then we say хвилини — minutes. This part is very simple! You just need to name кількісний числівник — cardinal number (it is a usual number in the form we learn it) and add the word хвилина, хвилини or хвилин in different cases. Look at the picture to understand more and learn better!
